What is pipe relining?

Here at Thoroughgood Professional Plumbing Service we use BRAWOLINER® technology, which is a seamless textile pipe liner with a special knitted construction, that is impregnated with silicone epoxy resin . It is highly flexible with the ability to stretch both length and widthways, and can withstand several 90° bends as well as changes in dimensions.

This is why it’s possible for us to carry out repair work throughout the complex piping networks of most property drainage systems, without having to dig large trenches to gain access.

It’s also important to note the proximity of trees to your pipework, as they have an exclusion zone around them which means you cannot dig there.

Why get your pipes relined?

If you’re sick and tired of getting your pipework cleared every 12 months.
Pipe relining is permanent, so once it’s been installed you don’t have to worry about it again, meaning you can take back a chunk of your time and money every year.

If you have a blocked drain and you don’t want to, or it’s not possible to, dig a trench to gain access.
Digging up areas of your property is of course disruptive, and can have a lot of other costs involved to restore the area back to its original state (replace tiles, paint etc). It’s also important to note the proximity of trees to your pipework, as they have an exclusion zone around them which means you cannot dig there.

How does pipe relining work?

  1. Firstly we clean the pipework with our high pressure cleaner, so we can ensure it is clear of debris and any accumulated build up.
  2. Next we send down our cameras to find and assess the damage, so we can determine the best course of action – to dig it up or reline.
  3. If relining is the way forward, we send down a tool to rough up the inside (a little like sandpaper) which ensures the material will bind to the pipe.
  4. The BRAWOLINER® is inserted into the defective pipe and put in place using an air compressor. This essentially presses the BRAWOLINER® material to the pipe so it forms a new, stronger pipe when it’s cured.
  5. The whole process takes up to 4 hours and the pipework can be used straight away.
